Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama

T. Nagar, Chennai

Rain water never stands on high ground, but runs down to the lowest level. So also the mercy of God remains in the hearts of the lowly, but drains off from those of the vain and the proud.

-Sri Ramakrishna

I tell you the truth : there is nothing wrong in your being in the world. But you must direct your mind towards God.

-Sri Ramakrishna

All religions are true. God can be reached by different religions. Many rivers flow by many ways but they fall into the sea. There all are one.

-Sri Ramakrishna

The earth is enjoyed by heroes”—this is the unfailing truth. Be a hero. Always say, “I have no fear.

-Swami Vivekanada

A tremendous stream is flowing toward the ocean, carrying us all along with it; and though like straws and scraps of paper we may at times float aimlessly about, in the long run we are sure to join the Ocean of Life and Bliss.

-Swami Vivekanada

Be brave! Be strong! Be fearless! Once you have taken up the spiritual life, fight as long as there is any life in you. Even though you know you are going to be killed, fight till you “are killed.” Don’t die of fright. Die fighting. Don’t go down till you are knocked down.

-Swami Vivekanada

I am the mother of the wicked, as I am the mother of the virtuous. Never fear. Whenever you are in distress, just say to yourself 'I have a mother.'

-Sri Sharada Devi

The Complete Works of Swami Vivekananda 8 vols. Set

In these volumes we have not only a gospel to the world at large, but also, to its own children, the Charter of the Hindu faith. For the first time in history, Hinduism itself forms here the subject of generalization of a Hindu mind of the highest order. What Hinduism had needed was the organizing and consolidating of its own idea, a rock where she could lie at anchor, and an authoritative utterance in which she might recognise herself. What the world had needed was a faith that had no fear of truth. Both are found in the words and writings of Swami Vivekananda. It is the latest gospel of a modern Prophet of religion and spirituality to the mankind.

The Life of Swami Vivekananda
(by his Eastern & Western Disciples) - Vol.1

The book provides the most exhaustive and reliable account of a man who not only lived an inspired life but was constantly a source of inspiration to others. Says C. Rajagopalachari: "Swami Vivekananda saved Hinduism and saved India. But for him, we would have lost our religion and would not have gained our freedom. We therefore owe everything to Swami Vivekananda."

Love in its varied aspects is the motive force behind all the actions of living beings. But love takes its highest form when directed towards the Divine or God. Among the different paths leading man towards the attainment of the Supreme is the one of love, devotion, and complete surrender. In this book Swami Vivekananda expounds how the path of Bhakti or Divine Love leads man to the Supreme Truth. Being an exposition by one of the pioneers in the religious and spiritual realm of the modern times, the value of this work need not be separately emphasised. Lucid, simple, and to the point, the words of the Swami touch the hearts of the readers and put them on to the divine path of love supreme. A highly valuable book for all the seekers of God.

There are several means of realizing God. The path of selfless work is one among them. This book contains eight lectures delivered by Swami Vivekananda on the practical application of the teachings of Vedanta to the affairs of daily life, showing how it is possible to lead the highest life and ultimately realize the Self without abandoning the duties and avocations of one's life in the world. It shows the readers the technique of converting the mundane activities of every-day-life into a means of attaining supreme felicity

In the pages of this book one comes across a brilliant exposition of the philosophy of Vedanta, and its practice through the method of enquiry and discrimination dealt in the light of Advaita Vedanta and science. These lectures were delivered by Swami Vivekananda at London and New York. The great Swami's exposition of a subject so abstruse in a style which makes its comprehension easy even for a child is nothing short of a miracle in English language. One of the best books dealing with the path of discrimination for attaining the summum bonum of human life and hence very important, not only for the seekers of truth, but also for the academicians and students of Vedanta.

For thousands of years extraordinary and supernatural phenomena have been studied, investigated, and generalised, the whole ground of the religious faculties of man has been analysed, and the practical result is the science of Raja Yoga. In the modern times Swami Vivekananda has been the most authoritative oracle to propound this age-old science of God-realisation. The main theme of the book is concentration of mind as a means to super-conscious state. The first part of the book comprises several lectures to classes delivered by the Swami in New York. He treats subject of Pranayama very scientifically. The second part is a rather free translation of the aphorisms of Patanjali, with a running commentary. This is a book invaluable for all the practitioners of meditation.

Sri Sarada Devi: The Great Wonder

by Apostles, Monks, Savants, Scholars etc. The present book, a collection of writings on Sri Sarada Devi by senior monks, eminent scholars and thinkers of international repute and by common men and women, points to the unique life of the Holy Mother whom Sri Ramakrishna regarded as his 'Shakti'

Sri Sarada Devi: A Biography in Pictures

The life of Sri Sarada Devi, popularly known as the Holy Mother amongst the devotees and the spiritual consort of Sri Ramakrishna is an enigma. On the surface, it appears to be just a homely life of a Bengali woman mostly in a rural setting. Yet her deportment discloses unmistakable marks of dignity and love of a divine order. Her humility, her touches of serene silence, and the gracious and unbounded richness of her motherly affection, flashes the heavenly splendour of her inner life. The biographical album containing 165 pictures, includes almost all the available pictures of the Holy Mother, individual and in group, and many pictures of places and persons connected with her, arranged chronologically with a life-sketch, write-ups, and quotations.
